We once believed the sun revolved around the earth.
Until the young Nicholas Copernicus had the audacity to claim that it was actually the earth that revolved around the sun. Officials were furious. But he was right.
And in the same way that Copernicus would flip the 16th century script, and assert that the earth, (while vital to our daily existence) wasn’t the center of the universe, and actually revolved around the sun, this body of modern economics sets out to assert, with the same conviction of our 16th century friend, that Profit Motive (while vital to our daily existence) isn’t the center of our social and economic universe, but revolves around Purpose Motive.
The Purpose Motive must be the centerpiece, in order for the rest of the system to work.
